travelling luggage

If you love a bit of speedy travelling and don’t want to wait around at airport carousels for your luggage to arrive from the plane’s hold, you’ll need a suitable cabin suitcase. It’s always a good idea to have a decent cabin case to serve you in light of delayed or lost luggage too (been there and don’t really want to experience that again!). Unfortunately lots of airlines differ in their cabin bag size allowances so it’s always worth checking with the airline before you travel. Skyscanner has a pretty good guide on the different rules and regulations for cabin sized baggage in Europe. And this article in the Telegraph lists out the dimensions that different airlines allow along with some suitable product suggestions.

For today’s #FridayEdit, I’ve put together some of my favourite looking cabin cases; those that tick the style box for me and will help your trip get off to a great start. Let me know below if you have a favourite I’ve not mentioned.

1. American Tourister Palm Valley Cabin Suitcase

American

With a hard-sided shell, the American Tourister ‘Fly Away’ model gets you right in the holiday mood. Distinctive and bold, the design features a flock of birds flying off – the perfect start to any holiday. With a 32L capacity, a fully lined interior, elasticated packing straps and zipped pockets, there are also plenty of compartments to allow for organised packing. One of my most loved features on cases like this is the 4 multi directional wheels which allow for smooth manoeuvring through the busiest of airports and travel terminals. This one comes with a 3 year guarantee, and even a fixed TSA lock which allows US customs to use their master key to check your suitcase without damaging the it. Pretty cool for travelling in the States.

It’s a pretty good price too at just £109 and available from John Lewis.

2. GlobeTrotter

Moneypenny

Globe-Trotter have been crafting heavy duty suitcases in England since 1897 and are renowned for their luxury travel companions. This one is a little bit special from the world’s most famous suitcase maker since 1897. The 18″ MoneyPenny trolley suitcase has ample storage in a beautiful interior, and comes in the signature vintage case styling that is synonymous with this brand. Features include a telescopic handle, two wheels, buckle straps, protective corners, gold-tone hardware, stud detailing, embossed branding and leather trim. It’s worth noting it needs specialist cleaning.

It doesn’t come cheap of course, and this particular model will set you back £1,135 at Selfridges.

3. Tripp Holiday 5 Cabin Suitcase

Tripp

I’m a little bit in love with Tripp luggage at the moment (I might even have one my Christmas list!) so had to include one in the #FridayEdit today. This particular model comes in many fun, bright colours so makes it easy to spot if you do decide to put it on the carousel and into the hold. It’s particularly lightweight at just 2.7kg, has a capacity of 32 litres, and retractable pull handle and side grab handles. You’ll also get a 5 year guarantee.

Normally this retails at about £100 but worth looking out for deals and bargains in the sales. Check out Debenhams for further information here.
